The science

Built around the science of self-efficacy.

Self-efficacy is our belief in our ability to take action and influence outcomes. It shapes whether we start, how long we keep going, and how we recover from setbacks. Uuna draws on psychologist Albert Bandura's research to help you create achievable plans, recognise progress, and build confidence through experience.

Why ordinary planners fall short

Capacity isn't constant

Energy, focus and executive function swing from day to day. A plan built for your best day becomes a list of failures on a harder one.

Hormones can shift symptoms

Many women find their ADHD symptoms change across the menstrual cycle. Most planners aren't designed around these fluctuations.

Shame erodes follow-through

Missed tasks pile up, belief in your own ability wears down, and the app gets abandoned. The tool becomes part of the problem.

Three sources of self-efficacy, designed into Uuna

Bandura described where our sense of capability comes from. Each part of Uuna is designed around one of these sources.

Mastery experiencesSmall wins you can see

Goals broken into doable steps, a gentle progress path, and Sunshine, a growing record of wins and meaningful moments for the days you forget.

Physiological & emotional statesRead your state, don't fight it

Daily energy check-ins, effort and friction ratings, the optional cycle layer, and Rescue's breathing and settling tools.

Verbal persuasionA voice that's on your side

Every message is written to encourage, never to shame. "Hard to fit today, you decide" instead of "You're behind."

A note on evidence. Uuna's design is informed by self-efficacy research. We haven't yet measured Uuna's own effect on self-efficacy — that is part of what we'll learn with our first testers, and we'll share what we find.
